Tamara Berg originally from Austin, Texas received her dental degree from the University of Oklahoma College of Dentistry in 1995. She graduated from Southern Nazarene University in Bethany, OK with a Bachelor of Science degree. She is married to Lowell and the mother of two adult sons Karsten and Clayton. Karsten is ia graduate of Southern Nazarene University with a degree in Exercise Science and Masters degree in Health and Human Performance. Clayton attends Lake Forest College in Lake Forest, Illiniois majoring in Physics while swimming for the college. Dr. Berg was elected 2nd Vice President of the American Dental Association in October 2024 and will begin a two year term. Dr. Berg has served on the Board of Trustees for the Oklahoma Dental Association. She was also has also served Oklahoma County Dental Society as a delegate to represent her component. She is on the ODA Investment committee as well as the Denpac Committee. Dr. Berg was named the 2020 Oklahoma Dental Assocation "Dan E Brannin" Professionalism and Ethics Award Winner. Dr. Berg was also elected to be a delegate to the American Dental Association representing the state of Oklahoma. She was named the 2019 Distinguished Dental Service Award (formerly called Dentist of the Year) a top honor from the Oklahoma Dental Association. Dr Berg has completed a four year term serving on the Membership Council at the American Dental Assocition. She served as the 2018 President of the American Association of Women Dentists (AAWD). She is the Immediate Past Chair of the Oklahoma Chapter of the American College of Dentists. She was recognized as the 2014 University of Oklahoma Dentist Alumni of the Year. Dr. Berg is a Past President of the Oklahoma Dental Association (ODA). While serving as President of the ODA in 2010-2011, she served as Chair of the 2nd Oklahoma Mission of Mercy at the Cox Convention Center in Oklahoma City. During February 2011, she lead the two day free dental clinic through the efforts of many volunteers 2201 patients were treated. She also served as co-chair for the first Mission of Mercy project in Oklahoma held in Tulsa 2010. For her work with the inaugural Mission of Mercy Dr. Berg received the President's Leadership Award in April 2010. Dr. Berg served previously as an alternate delegate from the state of Oklahoma to the American Dental Association meeting. Dr. Berg served as chair to the Governmental Affairs committee at the ODA in 2012-2014. She also served on the Oklahoma Dental Foundation Board in 2012-2014. Dr. Berg also has served on the Oklahoma County Dental Society Board serving as President in 2003-2004 and has served many years as a delegate at the state ODA meetings. Dr. Berg is a past president of the Oklahoma Association of Women Dentists and is very active in the Oklahoma female dentists group. Dr. Berg has served on the Smiles for Success Foundation Board, helping women receive new smiles after completing welfare to work courses. She served multiple years as a board member for the J.D. Robertson Foundation and served a five year term on the University of Oklahoma College of Dentistry Admissions Committee. She was awarded the 2014 Richard T. Oliver Legislative Award by the Oklahoma Dental Association. She was also named the Robert K. Wynne Public Information Award Winner in 2012, Young Dentist of the Year in 2000 and received the Thomas Jefferson Community Service Award in 2003 for her work with the Smiles for Success Foundation in Oklahoma which she co-founded. She was inducted into the American College of Dentists in 2007, the Pierre Fauchard Academy in April 2011 and the International College of Dentists in October 2011. Dr. Berg serves on the Southern Nazarene University Foundation Board. Dr. Berg enjoys reading, scrapbooking and spending time with her family attending their sporting events as well as the Oklahoma Sooner Football games. She enjoys summer days by the pool.
